Recently Jeff and I had the beautiful for a weekend retreat in Durango. Fall break from school just happened fall a couple of weeks after our two year anniversary so we took the opportunity to get away.
We choose to stay at Antlers on the Creek this beautiful bed and breakfast just outside of town. Our room was stunning complete with fireplace jacuzzi tub, walk in shower and personal patio. The view from our patio was stunning we could see the giant chessboard, pond and arrangement of changing aspens.
Breakfast each morning was divine! Each day started with some delicious homemade food, breakfast one morning started with baked peaches whipped cream and homemade vanilla almond biscotti. After a wonderful fruit start we would dive into a french toast dish accompanied by a cappuccino.
At five each day the owner offered a wonderful happy hour with white wine (my personal favorite) beer and a spread of homemade appetizers including mushrooms and green chili cheese dip. The days were beautiful so we sat outside overlooking that stunning back yard. These chairs were also the perfect place to look at the stars and sip on hot chocolate.
We spent our days exploring downtown Durango, browsing local shops, spending time at the train museum, checking out a local winery and buying bags of Rocky Mountain Chocolate. With midterms wrapping up this was the perfect way for us to get away for some much needed R and R.
