Gingerbread Cookies

I love how festive gingerbread is, but I really don’t like the taste, I also like my gingerbread to be softer than many traditional recipes so I have made a couple of changes- less ginger and more cinnamon. I also took the cloves out completely and added in a bit of allspice.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1teaspoons baking powder
  • 3teaspoon baking soda
  • 1teaspoon salt
  • 1tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1teaspoon all spice
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Grease cookie sheets.
  3. Place part of the dough on a floured surface.
  4. Sprinkle flour over dough and rolling pin.
  5. Roll dough to a 1/4-inch thick
  6. Cut out cookies
  7. Bake 1 sheet at a time for about 8 minutes- baking too much longer will make a harder gingerbread
  8. Remove cookie sheet from oven and allow the cookies to cool and then frost.
